It's Like Deja Vu All Over Again

One of the fun things about having Aubrey (besides another tax deduction) has been seeing how similar/different she is to Xavier at those same stages. Here she is doing something that Xavier loved to do on a daily (often hourly) basis...pull all of the books off the shelf. Most of the books are Shawn's, since he has an affinity for owning a billion books rather than checking them out from the library. Shawn often asked why I let Xavier do that. Let me tell you, when you are with a child who is very interested in discovering things all day, you are constantly saying no and redirecting them from things that the cannot have or play with; electrical cords, knives, Mommy's gossip magazines. SO, if there is something that keeps a child occupied for more than 13.5 seconds and is not dangerous to him or her, you had better believe I am going to let that child have at it, even if it's a tad messy. (Thank goodness for all my training as a page at the Homewood Public Library in high school.)
